Flat Maggie went to visit Aunt Amy and Uncle Matt in Watertown, South Dakota. She knew she would have fun but she had no idea that she'd travel over 2,200 miles and rise up to 33,000 feet in the air!

Maggie went with Aunt Amy to help Kayla with her piano lesson. It sounded great!
Then she went over to school with Aunt Amy to band class and had a blast!
She then went with Uncle Matt to Omaha, Nebraska. This city is the birthplace of the Union Pacific railroad and they celebrate that with a special park on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. It's called Kenefic Park.
They have brought one very old and one very new train engine to the top of the hill and put them on display.
Back in the 1800's the railroads wanted people to move out west and build their homes along the railroad. They offered free or inexpensive land to anyone who wanted it!
Maggie got a little close to one of the train engines!
Hope you don't have allergies! Maggie got close to some sneezeweed, too...
Then the adventure got a little more interesting when Flat Maggie got to fly from Omaha, Nebraska to Austin, Texas.
She got up bright and early on Sunday morning and saw the sun rise while 30,000 feet up in the sky! It was very beautiful to see the sun rise above the clouds.
Of course - she was following all the safety regulations properly!
The captain can turn a Fasten Seat Belt sign on and off during the flight. Flat Maggie found that she can wear her seatbelt verrrrry tightly (because she is so flat...of course!).
The airplane didn't fly directly from Omaha to Austin. It stopped in Dallas/Fort Worth airport in Texas first.
The airplane flying to Austin was in another part of the huge buildings at the airport. It was so far away that they've built a Sky Train to take people (both flat and normal) from one part of the airport to the other. This new train is very fast and runs on electricity!
It also gives great views of the airport and airplanes. You can see two airplanes in this picture. The closest one has just landed and is being unloaded (people and baggage and garbage). The farther away one is getting ready to take off, it is driving out to the end of the runway where it can rev it's huge engines for take-off.
You also can see the control tower where air traffic controllers sit and control all the airplanes coming and going. It's like a very careful airplane dance because they don't want anything to hit anything else.
Way off in the distance just to the right of Maggie's head you can see the Dallas city skyline (it's about 30 miles away). They are some very tall buildings but from 30 miles away they look small.
When Maggie arrived in Austin she found out that the Texas Bluebonnets (the state flower) were blooming. There were also Black-eyed Susan's in full bloom, too. She frolicked in some flowers that she found at Uncle Matt's offices.
Right next to the patches of flowers she found some very strange plants that were not comfortable at all! These are prickly pear cactus and they are not very fun to lay in (Ask Flat Maggie!).
Flat Maggie then went in with Uncle Matt to the Hewlett Packard offices (HP) and found some interesting characters living in cube-land. Flat Maggie had a little fun with them.
Flat Maggie was feeling a little puffy and wanted to get really flat again - so she decided to take a ride through the super-big printer rollers!
Flat Maggie helped Uncle Matt during his week in Texas. She kept an eye on the crazy traffic that he got to drive in and helped him look at different houses that he and Aunt Amy might move to this year.
As a special reward - Flat Maggie got to go to Chik-Fil-A (pronounced Chick - Fill - Ay) and get a kid's meal. Ask her to show you the fun bag and neat CD that came with it.
